LawnPro vs Housecall Pro: which is better for lawn care?

Price at every team size, lawn care features, and support, including where Housecall Pro comes out ahead. Every Housecall Pro fact here comes from its own pricing page and help center.

Updated October 2, 2026 · By Patrick Cash, founder of LawnPro

The short answer: for a lawn care business, LawnPro costs less at every team size and includes the lawn tools Housecall Pro doesn't have: chemical application tracking, multi-step treatment programs, and level billing on every plan.

Housecall Pro is a polished app for general home services like HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning. It's the better fit if most of your work is in those trades, or if you want 2-way texting and online booking on its entry plan.

Price at every team size

Month-to-month prices in USD. Annual billing is cheaper on both: LawnPro saves 20%, and Housecall Pro's plans drop to $59, $149, and $299.

Where LawnPro is ahead

Built for lawn care programs

LawnPro tracks chemical applications and runs multi-step treatment programs: a season of fertilization or weed-control rounds per customer, with chemicals assigned to each step and post-application reports. Housecall Pro can track materials used on jobs, but we found no chemical application records or treatment programs in its pricing page or help center.

Level billing on every plan

LawnPro's level billing spreads a season into equal monthly payments, with contracts and true-ups, on every plan, including the free one. Housecall Pro's Recurring Service Plans are part of its MAX plan.

Route optimization for less

LawnPro's route optimization is included on Grow ($129/month) and available as an add-on below that. On Housecall Pro it's MAX-only, and it reorders the jobs within a single tech's day.

Lawn pricing and crew pay

LawnPro's price matrix prices services by property size, difficulty, and frequency, and pay for performance pays crews the higher of hourly or production pay. Housecall Pro offers pricing forms, and commissions on Essentials and up, but not production pay compared against hourly.

Free plan and Sunday support

LawnPro's Solo plan is free forever, and US-based phone support answers 7 days a week, 7am–7pm Central. Housecall Pro has a 14-day trial, and its phone support runs Monday to Saturday.

Where Housecall Pro is ahead

  • 2-way texting on every plan. On LawnPro it's included on Plus and is an add-on below that.
  • Online booking and review management from the entry plan. Customers can book and pay online from Google or your website on Basic.
  • QuickBooks Online and Desktop. Housecall Pro syncs with both from Essentials. LawnPro syncs with QuickBooks Online only, included on Plus and $15/month below that.
  • Home-services tools. Customer equipment tracking, a visual price book, and a sales proposal tool suit HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Scale. Housecall Pro says it's trusted by 200,000+ pros.

Which should you choose?

Choose LawnPro if you run a lawn care, landscaping, or fertilization business, you sell seasonal programs or level billing, and you want a crew of 3–15 on one affordable plan.

Choose Housecall Pro if most of your work is HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or cleaning, or if online booking and 2-way texting on a low-cost plan matter more than lawn-specific tools.
