LawnPro vs Service Autopilot: which is better for lawn care?

Price, users, contract terms, and lawn care features, including where Service Autopilot comes out ahead. Every Service Autopilot fact here comes from its own pricing page and terms of service.

Updated October 2, 2026 · By Patrick Cash, founder of LawnPro

The short answer: both are built with lawn care in mind, and both handle treatment programs, chemical tracking, level billing, and price-by-size quoting. LawnPro costs far less for a crew, includes more logins, and has no sign-up fee or annual contract.

Service Autopilot is the better fit if you want its deep automation builder, run several locations, or need dedicated tools for snow, cleaning, or pest control alongside lawn care, and you're comfortable with an annual contract.

Service Autopilot doesn't publish its sign-up fee or the price of extra licenses. A 7-person crew needs more mobile licenses than its $499 Pro Plus plan includes.

Contract terms

This is the biggest practical difference. Service Autopilot's terms of service say:

  • The agreement renews automatically for the same length unless you give written notice at least 30 days before the term ends.
  • Xplor (Service Autopilot's parent company) does not issue refunds, including for limited or no use.
  • Fees can rise 7% each year, or more with 45 days' written notice.
  • You can't move to a lower plan during a contract term.

LawnPro has no long-term contracts. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from your account settings at any time, and a cancelled paid plan stays active through the end of the billing period.

Where LawnPro is ahead

More of your crew on every plan

LawnPro's Grow plan includes 7 employee logins for $129/month, and each extra login is $19/month. Service Autopilot's plans include 1–2 office users and 1–8 mobile licenses, so the plan you need depends on how many people are in the field.

Client portal and texting without a quote

LawnPro's client portal is included on every plan, and 2-way texting is included on Plus and available as an add-on on other plans. On Service Autopilot, the client portal and 2-way texting are "call for pricing" add-ons below the Elite plan.

Reviews, referrals, and crew pay

LawnPro's Grow plan includes automated review requests, a customer referral program, and pay for performance, which pays crews the higher of hourly or production pay. Service Autopilot's automations, which handle review requests, start on the $499 Pro Plus plan.

Independent, with weekend support

LawnPro has been independently owned since 2004 and answers the phone 7 days a week, 7am–7pm Central, from a US-based team. Service Autopilot is owned by Xplor Technologies, which was formed from payment processor Clearent.

Where Service Autopilot is ahead

  • Automations. Its workflow builder is its signature feature and goes deep, from follow-ups to surveys, though it starts at $499/month.
  • Multi-trade and multi-location. It markets dedicated tools for snow, cleaning, pest control, and pool businesses, and Elite adds multi-location management.
  • Built-in job costing. Job costing and analysis, multi-day jobs, and asset tracking are included from Pro.
  • Training. Plans from Pro include allotted training hours, and Elite adds onboarding and training specialists.

What they have in common

Both handle the lawn care basics: multi-round treatment programs, chemical application tracking (Pro and up on Service Autopilot), level billing contracts, price-by-property-size quoting, route optimization, and a crew mobile app.

Which should you choose?

Choose LawnPro if you want lawn care tools at a price that fits a crew of 3–15, with every price published, no sign-up fee, and no annual contract.

Choose Service Autopilot if deep automation or multi-location management matters more than cost, and an annual contract with yearly price increases works for your business.
